Jonathan Osorio: A portrait of sacrifice for Toronto FC
Jonathan Osorio is the type of player who’ll often go unnoticed on the pitch, but there’s no question he’s been a vital piece of the Toronto FC puzzle for so many years.
The Canadian international does the very important little things for TFC during a game: from popping up in the right place at the right time, to linking the defence with the attack, and finishing off an attacking sequence with a well-timed run into the penalty area.
And TFC’s captain does this with a consistent work ethic and without drawing much attention to himself, preferring to go about his business in a quiet manner.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Osorio’s selflessness extends to how he conducts himself off the pitch, too. Osorio made the ultimate sacrifice and put his money where his mouth was – quite literally – prior to the start of the 2024 MLS season when he played a major role in helping Toronto FC bring back fellow Canadian international Richie Laryea.
