Kwasi Poku, 2 other newcomers named to latest Canadian squad
The former Forge FC striker has earned his first national team call up and could feature in Canada's upcoming friendly vs. Panama.
Jesse Marsch has invited three young players into their first national team camp ahead of Canada’s international friendly later this month.
The Canadian coach unveiled his 26-man roster on Wednesday and included in the list are former Canadian youth internationals Kwasi Poku (RWD Molenbeek), fellow forward Santiago López (UNAM Pumas) and defender Jamie Knight-Lebel (Bristol City).
With any luck, all three youngsters will see action when Canada faces Panama on Oct. 15 at Toronto’s BMO Field. The game will be Marsch’s first on Canadian soil since his hiring in May.
Poku, 21, has four appearances under his belt for Canada’s under-20 team, and played in every match at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship where Canada bowed out in the round of 16.
