Ex-TFC academy product Kwasi Poku set for CPL Final with Forge
Poku's decision to leave Toronto FC's youth academy at age 18 and turn pro with Forge FC has paid off for both him and the CPL club.
Toronto FC’s loss has been Forge FC’s substantial gain when it comes to Kwasi Poku.
Poku, a former TFC youth academy product, has been one of the breakout players of the 2023 Canadian Premier League season, as the 20-year-old winger played a starring role in Forge’s run to its fifth consecutive CPL Final.
But the Hamilton-based club wouldn’t be benefiting from Poku’s dynamic attacking play if he didn’t first bet on himself by leaving TFC’s youth academy in February 2022 after spending two-and-half years with the organization, which included a brief stint with TFC 2.
