State of the union: 'Groundhog Day' at Toronto FC
We’ve seen this movie before and walked out on it, haven’t we?
A 3-2 home loss to FC Cincinnati on Saturday was Toronto FC’s fourth in a row and was not unlike a lot of the Reds’ recent setbacks.
Tell me if this sounds familiar: Toronto goes down 1-0, concedes a few entirely preventable goals and ends up being outplayed for large stretches en route to another defeat. It’s a familiar pattern that TFC have followed during a horrific stretch that has seen them lose 14 of their last 15 games in all competitions and been outscored 36-9 during that run.
You have to feel somewhat sorry for interim coach Terry Dunfield who, as TFC Republic reported last week, will remain in charge for this week’s pair of road games before John Herdman takes over and coaches the team for its regular season finale at home on Oct. 21 vs. Orlando City.
