Toronto FC was full of hope ahead of the 2024 MLS season opener in late February.
John Herdman had just guided TFC through his first pre-season training camp and new recruits were brought in to strengthen the roster, leading to an overwhelming sense of optimism as the club was set to kick off the campaign. Still, many MLS pundits predicted the Reds would finish near the bottom of the Eastern Conference table. But that didn't seem to bother the Reds' new coach.
“We’re in the business of proving people wrong,” Herdman stated. “Sean Johnson said in the locker room that we have to prove ourselves right, and I think that’s a good mantra for us moving forward.”
