Following a lengthy layoff, the Canadian women's team returns to action this week when it faces reigning World Cup champions Spain in an international friendly.

The game will be Canada's first since its quarter-final exit at this summer's Paris Olympics as it continues to move forward without the suspended Bev Priestman.

Spain is No. 3 in the current FIFA world rankings and this will also be its first game since finishing fourth at the Olympics. Canada is sixth in the FIFA rankings.
