Toronto FC vs. New York Red Bulls: 3 takeaways
"It was almost like we were sleepwalking," John Herdman said in the aftermath of TFC's loss to the Red Bulls on Wednesday.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse with Toronto FC.
TFC extended its winless streak to five games following Wednesday's 4-1 home loss to the New York Red Bulls, a result that did big damage to the team's playoff aspirations.
This was easily one of the Reds' worst performances of the season. It was also incredibly ill-timed, considering how John Herdman's side is fighting to stay alive in the playoff race and time is running out on them.
“Not good enough. No excuses, just not good enough. Not good enough tactically, not good enough with the set up and not good enough on the pitch. It wasn’t until the second half [that] I think the team really started to show up. We needed to go a goal down before we woke up. It was almost like we were sleepwalking," Herdman said.
Here are my three major takeaways from Wednesday's match.
