Toronto FC vs. New York City FC: What you need to know
A humbling 4-0 loss away to Inter Miami on Wednesday was another example of Toronto FC being unable to punch back after going down in a match.
The midweek setback means the Reds have conceded the first goal in 14 MLS games this season. They have 13 losses and one draw to show for it in those matches.
"I think the result actually doesn't tell the story of the game because in the first half I thought we were doing well up until [Miami scored a] goal," midfielder Jonathan Osorio said this week.
Interim TFC coach Terry Dunfield added: "It felt like 'Groundhog Day' where within the 90 minutes there was a good performance for a long spell and then it got away from us. We've been working hard since the game to clear the heaviness, living our processes and getting ready for New York."
Here’s what you need to know about Sunday's match between TFC and New York City FC (1:30 p.m. ET/Apple TV).
NOTE: The game was originally scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET but was rescheduled due to a water main break to the pipeline that services Red Bull Arena. NYCFC normally plays at Yankee Stadium but it's being used by the New York Yankees this weekend.
