MLS playoff race: The tough battle facing Toronto FC

Wins for Toronto FC don't come much bigger than the 2-1 home decision over Austin FC.

Saturday's victory allowed Toronto (11-15-3, 36 points) to maintain possession of eighth place in the Eastern Conference and move to within two points of seventh-place Charlotte FC. TFC also moved three points clear of ninth-place D.C. United.  

Coach John Herdman was pleased with how his team fought and scrapped against Austin in such a tightly-contested match with big playoff implications.
