Wednesday's home game against the reigning MLS Cup champions is a tough test for a TFC side fighting to claim a playoff spot.
Things are heating up for Toronto FC.
A 2-1 home win vs. Austin FC on the weekend kept TFC in pole position to claim one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
But there is still plenty of games remaining in the regular season, and any number of teams can still overtake the Reds in the table. If Toronto is going to successfully cross the finish line, it’ll need more efforts like the hard-working display against Austin.
"They really dug in and showed that fight that it's going to take to make it through to the playoffs. You're gonna have to fight, and it won't be perfect, as they keep telling us. You're gonna have to just grind the results out all the way through," coach John Herdman said after the Austin win.
