Jacob Shaffelburg looking for more consistency with Canada
The young winger announced himself to the world at the Copa América. But he insists he has a lot more to give the Canadian men's team.
It's been a pretty eventful week so far for Jacob Shaffelburg and it isn’t even over yet.
The former Toronto FC winger is currently in training camp with the Canadian men's team ahead of its friendlies against the United States in Kansas City (Sept. 7) and Mexico in Arlington, Texas (Sept. 10). If all goes to plan, Shaffelburg should feature prominently in both games.
On Wednesday, he became a new uncle when his sister Jessica gave birth. And Shaffelburg will himself become a first-time father as his wife Robyne is expected to deliver the couple's first child.
"It's been a busy few days. I'm officially an uncle and hopefully next week I'll be a dad. I can't wait. Seeing my sister hold her baby, it got me 10 times more excited than I already was to be a dad. It's gonna be so much fun," Shaffelburg told TFC Republic.
