CanWNT Talk: What does Stephanie Labbé's retirement mean for Canada?
Canadian goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé dropped a bombshell on Wednesday when she announced her plans to retire this spring after one final international friendly.
Labbe, 35, also revealed that she parted ways with her club side Paris Saint-Germain over the winter, paving the way for her to hang up her cleats.
The veteran shot stopper made her debut for Canada in 2008, and went on to earn 85 caps and record 44 clean sheets. She has an Olympic bronze and gold medal to her credit, having played a starring role in Canada's ascent to the top of the podium last summer in Tokyo.
In the latest edition of the video blog, I examine Labbé's international career and the legacy she leaves behind, and what her retirement means for Canada's women's program going forward.
