Toronto FC grinds out home win vs. Atlanta United
TFC earned their fifth home victory of the season thanks to an inspired performance on Saturday.
- Toronto FC 2 (Osorio 8’; Priso 78’), Atlanta United FC 1 (Araújo 57’)
- Priso scores his 1st MLS goal of season, 2nd of his career
- 24 consecutive MLS games without a clean sheet for TFC
TORONTO – Home continues to be where the heart is for Toronto FC.
Ralph Priso came off the bench to score a dramatic winner and lift TFC to a 2-1 decision over Atlanta United FC on Saturday night before an announced crowd of 25, 527.
The goal was Priso’s first of the MLS campaign, and second of his career. Priso also became the fourth different TFC teenager to score in 2022 - no other MLS team has had multiple teenagers score this season. Jonathan Osorio also found the back of the net for Toronto, who improved to 5-8-3 and recorded back-to-back victories for only the third time this year.
With COVID restrictions lifted, BMO Field is starting to become a fortress again for the Reds, much like it was during the team’s glory years from 2015 to 2019. All five of TFC’s MLS wins in 2022, as well as 15 of their 18 points, have come at home. Dating back to last September, Toronto’s previous eight league wins have been at BMO Field.
