Toronto FC continues to find new ways to shoot itself in the foot in what has been a calamitous MLS season.
TFC was forced to play a man down for 85 minutes after Noble Okello picked up a red card, and they went down early again en route to a 3-1 defeat to CF Montreal on Friday at Stade Saputo in the latest installment of the Canadian Classique.
A fourth consecutive loss kept Toronto (3-13-6) rooted to the bottom of the Supporters' Shield and Eastern Conference standings, 12 points and seven spots behind D.C. United who hold down the seventh and final playoff berth in the East. The Reds are now winless in seven games (five losses), with their previous win coming on July 24.
Defensive woes continue to plague Toronto, who have given up a league-high 47 goals and have gone 18 matches in a row without a clean sheet. TFC is also 0-12-3 this season when conceding the first goal of the match.
