Late goal helps Toronto FC earn road draw vs. D.C. United
TFC remains winless in six games, and are still looking for their first road victory after Saturday's 2-2 draw away to D.C. United.
- Toronto FC 2 (Akinola 36’; Osorio 89’), D.C. United 2 (Flores 7’; Estrada 56’)
- TFC without a shutout in 21 MLS matches, ties club record
- Akinola starts, scores his 1st goal since July 7, 2021
After suffering late losses in each of its last two games, Toronto FC turned the tables on its opponent on Saturday evening with a dramatic goal at the death to secure a valuable point.
Jonathan Osorio came off the bench to score his third goal of the season in the 89th minute to help TFC earn a much-needed 2-2 draw away to D.C. United. Ayo Akinola also scored for Toronto (3-7-3), who snapped a five-game losing streak but remains winless in its last six outings.
TFC will take the point, of course, as beggars can’t be choosers. But the club’s inability to earn results away from home remains a big problem and is not something that should be glossed over.
