TFC faces important questions going into the MLS break
With just a single win and five points from its first seven games, Toronto FC is off to its worst start to an MLS season since 2018.
TFC’s latest setback came in Saturday’s 2-1 road loss to the Columbus Crew, a result that extended their winless run to three games and marked the sixth time this campaign they were unable to keep a clean sheet.
This isn’t the start to the Chris Armas era club president Bill Manning and GM Ali Curtis envisioned when they hired Armas to replace Greg Vanney this off-season. The team’s uneven performances in MLS (where they have yet to put in anything close to resembling a complete, 90-minute effort) raises a lot of issues going forward.
Lucky for TFC that the league is about to shut down for the FIFA international window. The three-week break allows the Reds to reset, recharge and get healthy. It’s also a chance for Armas, and the club at large, to self-reflect and answer some important questions.
