Bernardeschi looks to bring artistic flair to Toronto FC
Considered the cradle of the Renaissance period, Florence is where renowned artists and creative spirits have flourished for centuries, producing work of the highest merit and significance.
The writer Dante Alighieri, author of the epic poem ‘Divine Comedy,’ was a Florentine. So was painter Leonardo da Vinci (‘Mona Lisa’) and sculptor Michelangelo (‘David’). As such, Florence has become one of the world’s great cultural hubs, with millions of tourists flocking there each year to see the many artistic gifts the Tuscan city has bequeathed to us all.
For those not lucky enough to get into the Uffizi, the city’s most important museum, take heart: An afternoon stroll through Florence can be just as an enriching experience. The city is bursting with artwork, murals, sculptures, fountains and Renaissance buildings. Whatever street you go down or corner you turn, you’re bound to be inspired, such is the breadth of Florence’s beauty.
