TFC Talk: Toronto FC moves on from Javier Perez
Major changes continue to take place at Toronto FC. In a move that won't surprise anybody, TFC announced on Tuesday that Javier Perez won't be back as head coach next season. The decision to not keep Perez comes one day after the club revealed it had mutually parted company with GM Ali Curtis.
“We would like to thank Javier for his hard work this season,” club president Bill Manning said in a media release. “He stepped into a difficult situation and was a true professional in every regard. We wish him well in his next endeavour.”
Perez, a 44-year-old native of Spain, took over as Toronto's coach on July 4 following the firing of Chris Armas. Perez helped to steady the ship after a disastrous start to the season, as the club posted a record of 5-10-8 (23 points) under his guidance.
In the latest edition of the video blog, I examine Javier Perez's brief stint as TFC coach, and the club's decision not to bring him back.
