TFC's Jonathan Osorio 'the kind of player you build a statue for'
If Osorio plays on Sunday vs. New York City FC, he will become the first Toronto FC player to appear in 300 games in all competitions for the club.
As far as MLS debuts go, Jonathan Osorio’s was rather uneventful.
On March 9, 2013, a 20-year-old Osorio stepped onto the pitch for the first time for Toronto FC when he replaced Terry Dunfield in the 82nd minute of a 2-1 home win over Sporting Kansas City. Three weeks later, he again came on as a second-half sub, this time scoring in a 2-2 draw against the LA Galaxy at BMO Field. Osorio showed promise in those two brief cameo appearances, but few at the time could have envisioned that the upstart midfielder would go on to become a towering figure at TFC.
Nine years later, the Canadian international stands on the cusp of making history. If Osorio sees action in Sunday’s game away to New York City FC, he will become the first Toronto FC player to appear in 300 games in all competitions for the club.
