Kaye on return from injury for TFC: 'There's a lot more work to do'
It’s been an amazing journey for Mark-Anthony Kaye, who went from hitching a ride to Toronto FC’s training facility with Michael Bradley as a young prospect not so long ago to playing alongside the Reds’ captain this season.
Kaye, 27, joined TFC’s youth academy in 2013, and the Toronto native quickly worked his way up the system and featured prominently for TFC 2 in 2015.
The way things were trending, it looked as though he’d soon graduate to the senior MLS team. But that never happened, and Kaye was cut loose by Toronto after the 2015 USL campaign. A short stint with Louisville City in the USL Championship paved the way for a move to LAFC where Kaye thrived under Bob Bradley.
Kaye’s career came full circle this summer via a blockbuster trade that saw Colorado send him to TFC, less than a year after the Rapids acquired the Canadian international in another eye-catching swap with LAFC. His return to Toronto gave him the chance to play alongside Michael Bradley for the first time after previously facing each other at club and international level.
