TFC's Matt Hedges reflects on 300 MLS regular season starts
Toronto FC newcomer Matt Hedges reached a special milestone last week, but he didn’t even know it at the time.
Like he did in each of the first three games of this season, Hedges played the full 90 minutes in TFC’s 2-0 win over Inter Miami at BMO Field. The victory also marked the veteran centre back's 300th career MLS regular season start.
To put this achievement in perspective, consider this: Hedges has started more regular season games than both Michael Bradley (271) and Jonathan Osorio (211), Toronto's two all-time appearance leaders in all competitions. With 329 regular season and playoff games under his belt, Hedges is one of only 19 current players with over 300 total appearances in MLS.
