April 25, 2023: Toronto trades for Sapong, Mabika
Toronto FC acquired forward CJ Sapong from Nashville SC in exchange for defender Lukas MacNaughton. Nashville also receives a guaranteed $125,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2024 and up to $75,000 in conditional GAM in 2025.
In a separate trade move, TFC acquired defender Aimé Mabika from Inter Miami CF. In exchange, Toronto sent $100,000 in GAM in 2024 to Miami. As part of the trade, Miami will also receive up to an additional $100,000 in conditional GAM and will retain a 25 per cent sell-on percentage for Mabika.
Both moves were completed before the MLS primary transfer window closed on Monday.
