TFC's Noble Okello: 'Now that I’m back I can only look forward to the future'
After a five-month injury layoff that derailed a promising season, the 22-year-old midfielder is ready to make up for lost time.
It was all going so well for Noble Okello at the start of 2022 that it looked like it was he was going to be a breakout campaign for Toronto FC.
Okello, 22, played in four of TFC's first five games of the regular season, including one start, winning plaudits for the physical, commanding presence he brought to the middle of the park.
In the opening week away to FC Dallas, with the score knotted at 1-1 late in the game, the home side was pressing for a winner and had the visitors pinned inside their half. Up stepped Okello, who intercepted a short pass from Emmanuel Twumasi, and then proceeded to use his long legs to get away while being chased by three Dallas players as he carried the ball into the opposite half to relieve the pressure and allow his back line to reset.
TFC ended up holding on for the draw, earning a valuable and rare point on the road in part due to Okello’s diligence.
