Toronto FC's 2021 MLS season: By the numbers
TFC's final season stats leave no doubt as to the main problems that club management has to address this winter.
There was great optimism inside the Toronto FC camp ahead of its 2021 MLS regular season opener on April 17.
TFC entered the game brimming with confidence after dispatching Mexican side Club Leon in the round of 16 in the Concacaf Champions League earlier in the month. But a 4-2 road loss to CF Montreal in the MLS curtain raiser proved to be a sign of things to come for the Reds.
This past weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to D.C. United meant Toronto (6-18-10) finished in second-last place in both the Eastern Conference and overall standings. TFC's 28-point season total was the third-worst in club history, and lowest since the 2013 MLS campaign when they collected 29 points.
