Toronto FC vs. Real Salt Lake: What you need to know
After a whirlwind week off the pitch, Toronto FC gets back to business on the pitch this weekend when it hosts Real Salt Lake.
On Monday, the club announced the firing of head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley, and assistant coach Mike Sorber. Youth academy coach Terry Dunfield was appointed as TFC's interim coach by club president Bill Manning.
The coaching change was in response to Toronto (3-7-10) sitting in second-last place in the Eastern Conference, five spots and seven points out of a playoff berth. The Reds are also riding a five-match winless run – their last victory came on May 27.
TFC has led in 10 games this season but has only three wins in those matches (with two draws), and they've dropped a league-high 16 points from winning positions. Small wonder they're near the bottom of the table in the East. RSL arrives in Toronto having gone unbeaten in a club-record nine road matches in all competitions (with six wins), with its last loss away from home coming in mid-April.
Here’s what you need to know about Saturday's game between Toronto and Salt Lake at BMO Field (7:30 p.m. ET/Apple TV and TSN 4).
