TFC still winless in MLS after being shut out by Red Bulls
- New York Red Bulls 2 (Amaya 32’, Clark 69’), Toronto FC 0
- TFC without a win in opening 3 games of MLS season for 1st time since 2012
- New Designated player Yeferson Soteldo made his MLS debut as a second-half substitute
It’s far too early for Toronto FC to press the panic button.
Still, there has to be some concern from within after TFC suffered a 2-0 loss away to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday afternoon, a result that still leaves them searching for an initial victory in MLS in 2021. The Reds' lone win in seven contests in all competitions this year came in the Concacaf Champions League.
With one point from two losses and a draw, Toronto is winless in its opening three games of an MLS campaign for the first time since 2012 - TFC infamously lost nine consecutive matches to start the season that year. The Reds have also conceded eight goals in league play thus far, and haven’t kept a single clean sheet. And it doesn’t get any easier for the Reds, who host the defending MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew on Wednesday night.
