TORONTO - It was a moment 16 months in the making, and for Jozy Altidore, it was especially well worth the wait.
After being banned by Chris Armas, Altidore was brought back by interim coach Javier Perez and club president Bill Manning, and the veteran forward repaid their faith by coming off the bench to score and help Toronto FC earn a 1-1 draw vs. Orlando City on Saturday night.
TFC welcomed a crowd of about 7,000 fans, made up of frontline workers and season ticket holders, to BMO Field to watch the game after health restrictions were recently loosened. It was Toronto’s first time back at BMO Field in front of spectators since March 7, 2020 vs. New York City FC in the second game of last season.
