Richie Laryea: TFC 'definitely in a better place' compared to last year
The Canadian has seen the best and worst of Toronto FC during his time at the club. But he thinks the Reds are on the right path at the moment.
After failing to make the playoffs for a second consecutive year, Toronto FC faces one of the most important off-seasons in its history this coming winter.
With a 9-18-7 record in 2022, TFC finished in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, 14 points out of a playoff position and with the league’s third-worst defence (a franchise-worst 66 goals against).
Coach Bob Bradley has already made some important end-of-season roster decisions, and has identified three key positions – goalkeeper, centre back and forward – that need to be upgraded ahead of the 2023 MLS campaign. But one area of the pitch that won’t require reinforcing is at right fullback thanks to the presence of Canadian international Richie Laryea.
