TFC blanked by Seattle in 2nd straight loss

  • Toronto FC 0, Seattle Sounders 2 (Teves 39’; Montero 60’)
  • Reds have gone 26 MLS matches without a shutout
  • Pozuelo 14th TFC player to reach 100 appearances

TORONTO – While Bob Bradley insists that Toronto FC is making progress, recent results in MLS suggest otherwise and that the club is stagnating.

TFC was once again let down by some sloppy defensive play and wastefulness in front of goal in dropping a 2-0 decision to the Seattle Sounders on Saturday before an announced crowd of 23,954 at BMO Field.

Toronto has now lost back-to-back league games, and has just two wins in its previous 11 league outings. With a 5-10-3 record, the Reds continue to toil near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings at the halfway point of the MLS campaign.

In what has become a recurring theme for Toronto, both of Seattle’s goals were soft and completely preventable, while the attack failed to make the most of its scoring chances. At this point, you have to wonder if even Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Criscito can help TFC rescue a season that is slowly slipping away from them.
