TFC Talk: John Herdman on a mission to return Reds to glory
The John Herdman era has officially begun at Toronto FC.
Herdman, 48, was formally introduced as the team's new coach at a Tuesday afternoon press conference alongside club president Bill Manning and GM Jason Hernandez at the club's training facility. Herdman fielded questions for roughly 30 minutes, and made a good first impression, saying he's looking forward to tackling the job of turning around the club's ailing fortunes.
“TFC is a winning club, there’s an expectation to win in this city,” Herdman acknowledged.
He added: “That’s the mission: to bring it back, to win. That will take a little bit of time; I’m hoping it doesn’t take a great amount of time."
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, I discuss the key moments and statements from Herdman, Hernandez and Manning during Tuesday's press conference, as well as interim coach Terry Dunfield's reaction to Herdman's appointment.
(NOTE: TFC Republic will have more analysis and written articles on the Herdman news throughout this week).
