Toronto FC vs. Austin FC: What you need to know
Goal-less in their last three and a half MLS games, TFC will try to end their scoring drought and pick up a rare road win on Saturday in Texas.
A first ever meeting against Austin FC this weekend could be the cure for what is ailing Toronto FC at the moment.
Wednesday's 0-0 draw against the New York Red Bulls at BMO Field marked the third league game in a row in which TFC had been shut out, extending their run to 314 consecutive minutes without a goal. The Reds haven't gone four straight MLS games without scoring since August to September 2010
Toronto (2-4-7) has just one victory in its last 10 contests in all competitions – winless in three straight in MLS – and remains rooted to the very bottom of the Eastern Conference table. With just two wins from its previous 19 MLS outings (2-9-8), an injury-plagued TFC badly needs to pick up three points in Texas to build some momentum and climb up the ladder in the East.
Here’s what you need to know about Saturday's game between TFC and Austin at Q2 Stadium (8:30 p.m. ET/Apple TV).
