State of the union: Dunfield's positivity aside, Toronto FC remains a mess
As Toronto FC continues its tailspin and the losses keep piling up, one question above all others must be asked: Where is the pride?
You have to feel sorry for Terry Dunfield.
Charged with overseeing a disparate group of players, the former Canadian international was put in a very difficult position when club president asked him to take over as interim coach of Toronto FC back on June 26 following Bob Bradley’s dismissal.
Dunfield, 41, had previously served on John Herdman’s staff with the Canadian men’s team on occasion, while also working as a coach in TFC’s youth academy for several years. But this appointment presented Dunfield with a great career opportunity, a chance to climb the ladder within the Toronto FC organization and win some points with the higher-ups at MLSE.
