August 2, 2023: Richie Laryea joins Whitecaps; won’t be back at TFC
The Vancouver Whitecaps announced that fullback and Canadian international Richie Laryea has joined the club on loan for the rest of the season from English side Nottingham Forest. It’s expected that the Whitecaps will sign Laryea on a permanent basis in the off-season, even though the club does not have the option to make him a permanent signing as part of the loan deal.
Quick analysis: Last week, TFC Republic reported that Toronto FC tabled an offer for Richie Laryea to Nottingham Forest, and that the Canadian international’s fate was squarely in the hands of the English side.
But Wednesday's announcement means Laryea won’t be back with the Reds.
