Toronto FC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: What you need to know
TFC will try to win a ninth Canadian Championship when they face the Whitecaps in Tuesday's tournament final in Vancouver.
Toronto FC has a chance to add another piece of silverware to its trophy cabinet this week when it takes on the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2022 Canadian Championship final.
Both clubs could use the shot in the arm that comes with winning the Voyageurs Cup. While Toronto's struggles this season have been well documented, Vancouver has been dogged by bouts of inconsistency throughout the campaign, and is currently four points and two spots out of a playoff position in the Western Conference.
TFC have won this tournament a record eight times, but the Whitecaps' lone championship victory came in 2015. They've lost in the finals twice to Toronto since then, including at home in 2016 when Will Johnson's goal deep into injury time allowed the Reds to win the two-legged final on the away goals rule.
Here’s what you need to know about Tuesday's game (10:30 p.m. ET) between TFC and the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place.
